Welcome to our first BIG adventure for 2011. We have loved the time we have previously spent in South America and feel very lucky to be able to be on one of the last cruises that will be allowed to cruise Antarctica.

Sea Day on the way to Antarctica

Thursday, February 17th
Today, we crossed the Drake’s Passage on our way to Antarctica.  Our guest speaker, naturalist Graham Sunderland, said this was the smoothest crossing of the Drake’s Passage that he can remember.  Hopefully, this will be the way our entire time in Antarctica will be.
Tonite, we celebrated Ursula’s birthday at the Infinity’s specialty restaurant, the SS United States.  We had reserved the small private room called the Wine Cellar for our group of 7.  This made it really special.  The food was very good and the service was impeccable…except for the wine sommelier who was really very pushy and was very unhappy that we did not let her “suggest” the appropriate wine.
